Is my website secure? Free website security check

Type your website address to see, in about 10 seconds, whether it gets the security basics right: HTTPS, a valid SSL certificate, protective security headers and safe cookie settings. You get a grade from A to F and plain-English fixes.

Passive check only: we look at what your site already shows every visitor. Only check sites you own or are allowed to test.

What this free check looks at

  • HTTPS and redirects. Does your site load over HTTPS, and does http:// send visitors to the secure version?
  • SSL/TLS certificate. Is it trusted, does it match your domain, and when does it expire? An expired certificate shows visitors a scary browser warning.
  • Security headers. HSTS, Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options and Referrer-Policy tell browsers to block common attacks like clickjacking and script injection.
  • Cookie flags. Cookies without Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite are easier to steal.
  • Version disclosure. Headers that reveal exact server software versions help attackers pick a matching exploit.

Why it matters for small businesses

Customers trust you with logins, card details and personal data. For online stores, fintechs, schools and agencies, in Nigeria, across Africa or anywhere else, these basics are a common first thing attackers look at, and many are quick, free fixes in your web server or hosting settings. Data protection laws such as Nigeria's NDPA also expect you to take reasonable steps to protect personal data.

What the quick check can't see

A passive check only sees what your site shows every visitor. It can't find bugs inside your code, weak passwords or problems behind a login. The full ovuGuards scan goes further, and you can try it free.

Frequently asked questions

Is this website security check really free?

Yes. The quick check needs no account and no card. If you want the deeper scan with a PDF report and monitoring, the Free plan gives you 3 full scans a month.

Will this check harm or slow down my website?

No. It is passive: we load your home page once, make one HTTPS connection to read the certificate and send one request to your plain http:// address to see if it redirects. We don't crawl, log in, submit forms or try attacks.

What does the grade mean?

We start at 100 and take points off for each problem, more for serious ones. A means the main public protections are in place. F means there are serious issues anyone can see from outside. The grade only covers what a passive check can see.

Do you store the website I check?

We don't save quick-check results. We keep a short server log line with the hostname for abuse prevention, and we count requests per network to stop misuse.

Can I check a site I don't own?

Only check websites you own or have permission to test. The check reads public information, but please use it responsibly.
